Release flow and dance training classes at Uferstudios, Berlin

The training is based on release technique adopting elements of acrobatics, martial arts, Limon technique and ballet. The mention of this combination allows one to focus on finding a flow and a stronger center. It works towards using less energy, traveling in the space and playing with different dynamics and qualities. Important tools such as body isolations, alignment, spirals and the use of gravity are incorporated to better understand the technique while also awaking the empowered mover’s body.
Fee: 150 EUR for the entire workshop // 40 EUR for a single day

Nikos Kalyvas was born in 1988 and studied Maths in the University of Patras and Dance in the professional dance school Aktina. As a dancer, he worked with choreographers such as Annie Vigier, Frank Apertet (Documenta14), Antigoni Gira, Betty Dramisioti, Xaris Mandafounis, Giannis Antoniou, Patritsia Apergi, Konstantinos Rigos, Leyya Mona Taiwil, Xaris Kousios, Persa Stamatopoulou, Babis Alexiadis, Hikaru Fuji, Choreftes Dance company, Sofia Mavragani and more.
As a choreographer he created TripTap, Psychord, and RoomsToLet. In 2018 he was selected by Aggeliki Stelatou as an upcoming choreographer and worked at Munich Biennale Platform in collaboration with Onassis Culture Center. In 2019 he co-founded RopisCo and choreographed Dépaysement at Onassis Culture Center. He was selected from Artworks team in collaboration with S.Niarchos foundation getting a fellowship and having the opportunity to make his personal research in choreography and contemporary dance technique during 2019-2020 and travel in Europe having workshops in choreography and dance.
Since 2019 he is an active member of Kinitiras as a performer and coordinator of its educational activities working with adolescents. In 2021 he choreographs the work KADIN in the context of the 200 years since the Greek revolution of 1821 at the National Opera, in collaboration with the composer Yiannis Angelakis and Puzzle, which was presented at the SNF Nostos of the S.Niarchos Foundation.
Since December 2021, he collaborates with the LUNA PARK team as part of the international exchange programs “How to dance in times of crisis?” and “Teaching performance”, in Berlin as course leader and choreographer. He is teaching since 2015 contemporary dance and improvisation at professional dance schools and studios in Greece and Europe.
