As part of its international encounter for young dance professionals “How to dance in times of crisis?” in Berlin from 20 to 30 December 2023, the LUNA PARK initiative realized the collective performance format LUNAPARK.works for the fifth time. For LUNAPARK.works 05, the participants, young dancers and choreographers from Paris, Alexandria and Berlin, worked together on their own performative projects and presented them to an invited audience in Studio 1 of Uferstudios in Berlin-Wedding on December 29, 2023.
The exchange programme “How to dance in times of crisis?” has been organized by the LUNA PARK initiative since 2016 with annual international encounters for young dance professionals. How does our understanding of art change in times of serious social upheaval, in times of local and global crises? How does our artistic expression change? Do we dance differently in times of crisis? Can dance make a difference – even outside the theater? The participating young dance professionals will address these questions in lectures, seminars and discussions, as well as dance theory and philosophical approaches to the conception and evaluation of contemporary dance and performance art. They are accompanied by experienced dance artists who also lead practical workshops in choreography and improvisation as well as joint rehearsals and support the participants in the realization of their own performative projects.
Against this background, various choreographic works were also presented as part of LUNAPARK.works 05:
