The Initiative LUNA PARK will award two residency scholarships per year from 2025 to 2027 to young, professional artists in the fields of contemporary dance, choreography, and performance. “LUNAPARK.Residency Scholarships” is funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion. The goal of the program is to support emerging artists in their artistic practice during an 11-month scholarship period and to foster exchange with the Berlin, national, and international cultural scene. The program is based on LUNA PARK’s distinctive approach of combining professional contemporary dance production with sociocultural education, especially for children, adolescents, and young adults, many of whom have migration or refugee backgrounds.
Program Offerings:
_ Regular professionally guided training
_ Support for personal artistic projects (spaces, rehearsal time, equipment, mentoring)
_ Introduction to production processes and artistic research
_ Participation in external workshops with experts in dramaturgy, choreography, and music composition
_ Invitation to participate in international exchange programs with public presentations
_ Contribution to and creation of dance and movement offerings for children and young people
_ Continuing education in the fields of cultural mediation and education
Residencies will mainly take place at the headquarters of the Initiative LUNA PARK at the Gesundbrunnen Primary School in Berlin Wedding, and occasionally at the Uferstudios. The artistic director is dancer, choreographer, and dance educator Kosmas Kosmopoulos.
Target Group:
The residency scholarship is aimed at emerging dancers and choreographers residing in Berlin who have either completed a professional training or can demonstrate relevant experience in dance and choreography. Applicants should have an interest in cultural education and mediation, and ideally have gained some practical experience in this field. The 11-month scholarship offers artists the opportunity to further develop their artistic practice and gain new creative impulses.
Application Process:
This call is open to all applicants who meet the above profile. The application process includes:
_ Submission of application documents (CV, motivation letter, work concepts, portfolio/video and photo materials)
_ Invitation to present work samples (including participation in professional training and workshops with children)
_ Final selection process by a jury, consisting of the Artistic Director and staff from LUNA PARK and the Gesundbrunnen Primary School.
Important Note:
Interested applicants are asked to indicate their preferred scholarship period (multiple periods can be selected) in their application. The scholarship periods are:

This time includes both space for personal artistic work and access to rehearsal rooms and technical equipment of the association.
